Abstract

The idea of the labor market as a group of «hierarchical promotion tines» based on seniority leves, and existing within companies, is usually found in the labor market researches of the institutional authors. Those hierarchical promotion lines that they call Internal Labor Markets (ILMs), are the main subject of this paper. In this case, the matter in hand is to choose an ILM belonging to the Canary Islands labor market, to determine the rules that control its promotion lines and its ports of entry; and we are particulary interested in identifing the role of formal education in those rules.
