Abstract

A novel diffusion absorption heat transformer was proposed and built. The temperature lift performance of the novel system was experimentally tested with the diffusion gas supplied by an electric gas pump or a thermally driven pump, and the gross temperature lift was realized as high as 17.6 °C and 11.8 °C, respectively. Higher mass fraction of HCOOK in aqueous HCOOK solution, lower flow rate of aqueous HCOOK solution, and larger flow rate of refrigerant, were all beneficial to higher temperature lift. It is of remarkable significance for the utilization and upgrading of low grade thermal energy that a temperature lift can be realized by the diffusion absorption heat transformer with heat input but no need of electricity.
