Determinantes de la calidad de la educación media en Colombia: un análisis de los resultados PISA 2006 y del plan sectorial "Revolución Educativa"

    En este documento se busca evidencia de los determinantes de la calidad de la educación en Colombia a través del estudio de los resultadosde la prueba PISA 2006. Mediante un análisis econométrico se encuentra que los recursos físicos del plantel, el currículo o contenidoacadémico y la cualificación de los profesores son determinantes positivos de los resultados de la prueba. Asimismo, el análisis revelaque una mayor posesión de recursos educativos en la casa está relacionada con mayor rendimiento, así como la dedicación e interés delestudiante por las ciencias y las matemáticas. Por último, los resultados son analizados a la luz del plan sectorial del periodo 2002-2010conocido como "Revolución Educativa".Abstract: This document seeks evidence on the determinants of the quality of education in Colombia through the study of the PISA 2006 results.Based on econometric analysis we find that the physical resources of the school, the curriculum or academic content and skills ofteachers are positive determinants of test results. We also find that greater ownership of educational resources at home, as well as thecommitment and interest of students in science and mathematics, is related to better performance. Finally, the results are analyzed inlight of the sector plan for the period 2002-2010 called "Educational Revolution."
