Abstract

The Health Status of the US States for the period 1989–1991 is explored by using the stochastic theory of the first exit time of a stochastic process from a barrier. The systematic study includes the ranking of the States according to specific parameters related to the health state as the life expectancy at birth and the healthy life expectancy. Light, Severe and Total disability causes are explored. The US States are also classified according to the total health state estimated by the stochastic theory proposed.
