Abstract

The relationship between work-life and workplace models is deeply interconnected, with each influencing the other. Not all employees have equal access to hybrid working arrangements due to the nature of their roles, which may require physical presence. As a result, workplaces with higher digital integration are more likely to adopt hybrid models compared to those with analogue dependencies. The evolving hybrid workplace model emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic, blending digital and analogue work environments. It offers flexibility, allowing employees to work from various locations while maintaining productivity and work-life balance. However, the term “Hybrid Workplace” may not fully capture the future complexities of work-life integration. The contemporary hybrid workplace challenges traditional notions of time, place, and space, promoting a work environment that is increasingly agnostic to these factors. Organisations must navigate the development of this model carefully, balancing physical and digital infrastructure with employee behaviour, management practices, and overall organisational culture. The ultimate goal is to enhance sustainable productivity and efficiency, but achieving this requires a holistic approach that considers all elements of the workplace. The hybrid workplace illustrates the dynamic interplay between these components, highlighting the importance of employees as central to value creation. As digitalisation accelerates, organisations must continuously adapt to maintain a competitive productive and flexible work environment.
