Abstract

The dominant objectives of adopting a hybrid workplace model vary, but they largely aim to align the workplace with societal and market developments. Management is not the sole driver; external pressures and future expectations play a significant role. The hybrid model offers flexibility, balancing individual and organisational needs, and is increasingly recognised as essential for maintaining a competitive advantage. Key motivations include digitalisation, which boosts productivity, employee attraction, retentionAttract and retain, and well-being by providing greater flexibility. The hybrid model also supports sustainability, inclusion, diversity, and cost reduction, particularly in office expenses. Moreover, it can, if applied cleverly, foster innovation and enhanced productivity through flexible working options. Although challenges remain, particularly around full remote working, the hybrid model’s ability to reduce costs and improve efficiency ensures its relevance. Organisations must strategically develop their hybrid workplace models, as the future of work increasingly demands a balance between digital and physical spaces, flexibility, and innovation.
