Abstract

Digitizing compliance transforms regulatory adherence into a strategic advantage for manufacturers by leveraging digital tools to streamline processes, enhance transparency, and optimize operations, thereby reducing costs and creating new business opportunities. Digital tools support Right to Repair initiatives by streamlining repair processes, enhancing service quality, and efficiently managing repair information. Implementing Digital Product Passports (DPPs) requires advanced data management systems, supply chain collaboration, IT interoperability, and customer engagement, enabling compliance, transparency, and sustainability. For Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) compliance, manufacturers must utilize data management, IoT technologies, PLM software, and customer engagement platforms to ensure sustainability from design to disposal. Data analytics, digital design tools, real-time supply chain visibility, and consumer engagement platforms help manufacturers comply with packaging regulations, drive innovation, and optimize resource use for sustainable packaging solutions. A harmonized digital compliance system with advanced data analytics, predictive AI, and secure IT infrastructure allows manufacturers to navigate international sustainability regulations efficiently, enhancing operational efficiency and driving long-term growth. The chapter also includes a capability map outlining the digital capabilities manufacturers must develop to support data-driven compliance. Additionally, a detailed checklist guides manufacturers through implementing these capabilities, ensuring structured adoption and effective outcomes in transforming compliance into a strategic business advantage.
