Abstract

Digital ecosystems are pivotal for circular economies, enabling seamless interactions and data sharing among stakeholders. They foster interconnectivity and real-time communication, allowing dynamic adjustments for optimal efficiency and sustainability. Data-driven decision-making leverages powerful analytics for transparency and informed choices, while automation and AI synchronize activities to minimize waste and optimize resources. These ecosystems ensure supply chain transparency, compliance, and efficiency, supported by strong cybersecurity measures to establish trust. Standardization and interoperability facilitate smooth integration among diverse platforms, and automated regulatory compliance systems keep up with regulatory changes. Manufacturers can enhance collaboration, make informed decisions, and efficiently manage complex stakeholder interactions by participating in such ecosystems, ultimately supporting sustainable and innovative business models. The capability map highlights essential digital capabilities manufacturers need to thrive in such ecosystems, such as API management, event thinking, and enhanced supply chain transparency. Additionally, a checklist guides manufacturers through the tasks and methodologies required to participate effectively in digital circular ecosystems, ensuring seamless integration, robust security, and efficient resource utilization.
