Abstract

As we have learned throughout the various chapters of this book, developing a BI strategy is not easy. It requires a good understanding of the fundamentals, a broad knowledge of the various factors contributing to business intelligence success, strong communication skills, and more. This chapter aims to conclude the previous chapters with a more concise overview. However, we strongly recommend our readers not to confuse this chapter with a checklist where you just tick the boxes, and you are done. Instead, we believe this chapter will help our readers summarize and recapitulate some selected essentials contributing to developing a BI strategy. We should not forget that the BI strategy is a means of enabling the Intelligent Enterprise. In this sense, we consider the practice of developing a Business Intelligence strategy to be somewhat of an art.
