Abstract

Rwanda | Greg Bakunzi is an experienced Rwandan tour organiser and guide for various international tour operators. He started operating Amahoro Tours back in 2002, as a sole tours company that promotes sustainable local development and improves the living conditions of people who reside near the protected areas, promoting local tourism that is both responsible and sustainable. Greg founded Red Rocks in 2013, a Rwandan community-based organisation where the local community can gain from tourism activities. This sustainable source of income will bring underserved communities into the tourism supply chain and support community development projects through its non-profit organisation. The idea of the Red Rocks Initiative for Sustainable Development is to integrate tourism, conservation and sustainable community development, to enhance locals to be ambassadors of protecting their natural environment.
