Glenn Jampol on Tourism Business and Ecotourism in Costa Rica

Abstract

Costa Rica | Glenn Jampol has been a tourism pioneer in Costa Rica for the last 30 years. Along with his wife, Teresa Osman, Glenn has been the owner and developer of two award-winning five-level certified sustainable hotels in Costa Rica: Finca Rosa Blanca Coffee Plantation Resort and Arenas Del Mar Beachfront and Nature Resort. In 2010, his coffee plantation won the Rainforest Alliance International Sustainable Standard Setter Award. He has worked as a liaison to the Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT) and was the vice-president of the National Accreditation Commission accrediting sustainable practices and sustainable tourism certification. He has also worked as a consultant on national and global sustainability policy for the tourism ministry in Costa Rica. Glenn was the Director of the Board at The International Ecotourism Society (TIES) and is currently the Chair of the Global Ecotourism Network. Glenn is also a founding member of the newly formed LACEN, the Latin America & Caribbean Ecotourism Network.
