Abstract

The level of digitization is increasing globally on a daily basis. This change is not only met with enthusiasm, because it fuels people’s fundamental fear of being substituted. Many unpleasant and usually monotonous tasks are already being performed by machines—and this more accurately, more cost-effectively, and faster. At the same time, we are facing one of the most significant social challenges with the shortage of skilled workers. With the realization that technical solutions should be tailored to the needs of future users, the urgent question of what optimal staff deployment planning can look like also arises in the healthcare sector. This chapter answers the question with a solution approach from digitization. It outlines a harmonious interaction between human and machine. In addition, it aims to address productivity considerations and frequent challenges.
