The Evolution of Supply Chain Startups

Abstract

Until recently, the field of supply chain and logistics has held a reputation for adopting startup-fueled technologies comparatively slowly while being outdated and paper driven. However, this has been changing rapidly due to a sense of urgency from the largest players in the supply chain space and an increase of investments in new technologies and business models. The aim of this chapter is to showcase new startup developments in the industry and highlight from where the most successful startup founders are emerging. The last aim of the chapter is to show that a strong partnership between the incumbents and startups is essential for investments to perform well and for new technologies to effectively serve the needs of the long-established companies.
