Abstract

While air and ocean freight forwarding play a crucial role in driving the global economy, the sheer scale of the industry has acted as a limiter on innovation and competition. However, digital tools are now changing this. Whereas advantage was once largely to be found in infrastructure and relationships, new players are proving that data and automation can improve not only margins and performance but also customer experience and profitability. Not coincidentally, this transformation comes as retail and e-commerce are also accelerating, with businesses demanding more agility and flexibility. In this new environment, the players who can most effectively meet the needs of the modern retail landscape will be able to grow market share and pioneer a new vision for this industry.
