Abstract

Platform strategies promise significant data-driven data-driven Business value creation in markets where two or more sides can be identified. In the consumer market, platform operators offer services to consumers, generating data that is then used by the service providers to improve the efficiency of their services. They have been particularly successful in the payments, transportation, and lodging markets. In the business market, however, current business constraints have restricted companies to operating in limited segments of their value chain making it impossible to realize the entire ecosystemecosystem Business value generation potential. If businesses within an ecosystemecosystem Business can find a way of sharing their data while maintaining their business independence, they will be able to generate more efficiency and more flexibility and reduce their time to market.
