Abstract

Challenges the view that small and medium-sized enterprises are structurally disadvantaged in AI adoption by arguing that generative AI reduces barriers related to cost, expertise and access. Drawing on practitioner experience and empirical evidence, it shows that value depends on organisational readiness, human factors, strategic intent, industry context and digital intensity, and identifies conditions under which perceived SME disadvantages can become competitive strengths.
