European Investment Bank In The Institutional System Of The E.U

Abstract

The institutional system of the E.U. consists of provided by the E.U. law institutions In the framework of the system there are main and auxiliary institutions. The European Investment Bank is the auxiliary institution of exceptional character. Its members are at the same time the members of the E.U. The European Investment Bank is a financially and organizationally independent institution. The capital of the Bank amounts to 164 808 169 000 EURO. Its purpose is contributing to the development of the common market, integration, economic and social cohesion. The European Investment Bank co-finances projects through giving loans and collaterals. The aim of the article is to present the status of the Bank and its role in the institutional system of the E.U. The European Investment Bank is a not well known E.U. institution. Nevertheless, it is a very important E.U. organ. The activities of the Bank cover the E.U. members and about 140 other countries around the world which have developed partnership with the E.U.
