Abstract

The Austrian environmental technology economy has shown a positive development also in recent – crisis-ridden – years. Since 2019, sales have grown by an average of almost 9 % per year and employment by 3 %. This means that the development in the environmental technology sector is significantly higher than that of the Austrian economy as a whole. Innovation plays a key role in this. Both the manufacturing environmental technology companies and those that offer environmental technology-related services have a significantly higher product innovation frequency than the Austrian economy overall.
