Competitividad de Ushuaia como puerta de entrada marítima del turismo antártico

Abstract

El turismo antártico requiere de ciudades-puerto ubicadas estratégicamente. Ushuaia presenta ventajas por la distancia que la separa de Antártida e infraestructura. Cuenta con condiciones favorables para una competitividad más efectiva en términos de beneficios socio-económicos, generación de una identidad antártica, optimización de servicios, entre otros. El objetivo es analizar la competitividad de esta ciudad como puerta de entrada a la Antártida, centrándonos en la competitividad como conector entre el entorno global y el desarrollo local. Desde un enfoque metodológico cualitativo, basado en la observación participante y entrevistas a actores locales y extranjeros, se obtuvieron resultados que valoran a Ushuaia por su localización y desarrollo de servicios del sector privado; las debilidades se refieren a costos y eficiencia de servicios públicos.
