Necesidad de precisar el contenido y el alcance de la política de desarrollo sostenible del turismo

Abstract

A pesar de todo lo dicho sobre el desarrollo sostenible del turismo, no hay una idea clara sobre el contenido y el alcance de la política de desarrollo sostenible del turismo. Es conveniente aclarar dichos aspectos y comentar los requisitos necesarios para la definición y aplicación de una política de desarrollo sostenible del turismo a largo plazo, así como los factores que deben ser superados para poder integrar los principios y criterios de sostenibilidad al desarrollo y la gestión del turismo. En la política de turismo sostenible se deben distinguir dos dimensiones distintas e interrelacionadas: la política general de desarrollo sostenible del turismo y las políticas turísticas específicas, destinadas a corregir el deterioro del medio ambiente ocasionado por el turismo masivo de alto impacto y el desarrollo de los distintos tipos y modalidades de turismo, con los correspondientes apoyos al fomento de dichas modalidades de turismo, por otro. La conjunción de estas dos políticas conforma lo que llamaremos política integral de desarrollo sostenible del turismo.
