Abstract

This article addresses deindustrialization by examining its causes and effects within the context of efficiency and local development. The aim is to analyze how this phenomenon impacts regional economies and to determine effective strategies to mitigate its negative effects. The methodology used is qualitative, based on an exhaustive bibliographic review that allows for a deep understanding of the various aspects and dynamics of deindustrialization. The findings reveal that, although deindustrialization results from changes in the global economic structure, regions that effectively adapt their economic policies can lessen its adverse effects and strengthen their economic development. The main conclusion of the study highlights the importance of implementing policies that promote industrial efficiency and local development through investments in human capital, innovation, and infrastructure as fundamental means to revitalize impacted areas and ensure sustainable economic growth
