Socio-demographic and epidemiological risk factors of early gestation. Pinar del Río Municipality

Introduction: Adolescent pregnancy is a global public health concern. It is accompanied by significant morbidity derived from biological, sociocultural and economic factors that compromise the mother-child binomial, and has repercussions on the family and society. to characterize the sociodemographic variables related to adolescent pregnancy in the municipality of Pinar del Rio from January 2022 to march 2023, an observational, descriptive, cross- sectional study was carried out with a universe of 240 adolescents admitted to the regional maternity home Justo Legón Padilla during the aforementioned period, coinciding with the sample, theoretical, empirical and descriptive statistical methods were used. The Mean level of adolescent pregnancy incidence was higher in those older than 15 years schooling predominated and the majority reported not having received sex educations. Only 12,5 % of the pregnant adolescents practiced any religion and 6,6 % lived in a consensual union. Most of the young woman initiated sexual relations between the age of 15 and 1 years and 12,5 % used some type of contraceptive. Pregnant women from rural areas predominated. Early gestation was related to medium level of schooling, rural origin, consensual union, inefficient use of contraceptive methods and poor sexual education.
