The universe was constituted by 2368 pregnant women admitted, a non-probabilistic sample of 1539 pregnant women was selected. Theoretical and empirical methods were used, by reviewing medical records and applying a survey, as well as descriptive statistics. there was a predominance of pregnant women between 20 and 34 years of age (87.5%), with a pre-university school level (51.4%), marital status, cohabitation (38%); from rural and difficult access areas, mostly primigravidae (49.8%), normal weight (52%), smoking was the most frequent toxic habit, the main reasons for admission were: geographic income, poor weight gain, being an adolescent, risk of prematurity and anemia. the regional maternity home admits pregnant women who require comprehensive care by a multidisciplinary team, developing actions that contribute to achieving a satisfactory pregnancy, improving the indicators of the Maternal and Infant Program.
