Theoretical application in healthcare practice for vulnerable patients admitted to the Julio Trigo López Clinical and Surgical Hospital

Abstract

Introduction: nursing professionals carry with them a very important position that relates health with society, which implies that they must continually investigate and search for scientific bases to help improve the quality of the care provided in the processes carried out. Objective: to describe the theoretical application in the practice of care for vulnerable patients admitted to the Julio Trigo López Clinical and Surgical Hospital. Method: a systematic review and analysis of the bibliographic and documentary content was carried out, in order to develop a reflexive analysis of the content of the documents published at national and international level related to the topic addressed, interviews with managers and care staff of the Julio Trigo López Clinical and Surgical Hospital, opinions and experiences narrated, together with the authors' criteria, based on their actions, were incorporated. Results: it is essential that nurses implement the application of the proposed nursing theories in this type of patients who need more than a physical figure to bathe them, feed them, provide them with medical treatment, the nurse-patient interpersonal relationships are the basis of the nursing discipline, to ensure holistic care, based on a moral commitment, through values of respect for the dignity of life. Conclusions: the application of nursing theories in the care practice of vulnerable patients validates the professional performance, enriching the nursing thought that is continuously evolving.
