Abstract

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were established by the United Nations in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda, aiming to eradicate poverty, protect the environment, and ensure global prosperity. While they provide a universal framework, their implementation in developing countries faces significant challenges due to resource shortages, structural inequalities, and weak institutions. SDGs 1 and 2 are crucial for poverty and hunger reduction, while gender equality (SDG 5) and climate action (SDG 13) present critical obstacles. International cooperation and investment in infrastructure and education are essential for success. Cases like Rwanda have shown progress in gender equality and poverty reduction, whereas countries like Brazil and Mexico continue to struggle with persistent inequalities. Adapting the SDGs to specific national contexts is key to achieving sustainable development.
