Abstract

The article discusses the most salient developments on the relationship between beauty and orofacial harmonization in the last five years, based on a literature review of relevant studies. The results highlight the importance of an aesthetically appealing smile in facial beauty standards, emphasizing technological advances in the position of central incisors and the role of the facial midline in visual perception. Aspects of facial contour, such as bilateral symmetry, horizontal and vertical proportions, nasal width, and the relationship between lips, chin, eyes, and facial profile are also examined. It is concluded that oral health not only contributes to an aesthetic and functional smile, but also improves emotional and psychological well-being
