The philosophy of pregnancy: understanding the existential and ethical aspects

Abstract

Background. The modern social context is characterized by the increasing complexity of the problem field associated with the phenomenon of pregnancy. The research contributes to the development of the ethical and existential theory of pregnancy. The main purpose of this study is a philosophical analysis of pregnancy, revealing its existential and ethical aspects. Hypothesis: pregnancy represents an anthropological crisis and a fundamental transformation, during which a woman not only conceives a new life, but also re‑constructs her own identity, facing the ultimate questions of meaning, responsibility and loneliness. This research is based primarily on the methodology of analytical philosophy, supplemented by elements of hermeneutical and existentialist approaches. Results. The research contributes to the formation of the philosophy of pregnancy as a special interdisciplinary field, offering a conceptual framework for the integration of existential, ethical and socio‑political analysis.
