The implementation of Takaful insurance in Russia: present state, problems and prospects

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of Islamic models of insurance, possibilities of its implementation in Russia. Details the mechanism of Takaful, features, strengths and weaknesses of its application in Russia. Despite the identified growth of the insurance market over the past year to enhance its development of the new promising area not covered by the Russian insurance companies. It is a market of Takaful insurance. The paper discusses and uses the basic concepts of Islamic insurance. Given the characteristics of the Islamic model of insurance, it differs from the traditional one. Detail justify the preconditions of introduction of Islamic insurance model in Russia. Given the number of factors that determine the success of the implementation in Russia of Islamic model of insurance. Of particular note is the need for the development of Takaful insurance in the former Soviet republics. In the Islamic countries of the CIS in the quantitative composition of the population in 70 million people, the potential of Takaful insurance is up to 8 billion U.S. dollars. With the Russian Muslim population (approximately 25 million persons) total insurance capacity grows to at least 10 billion U.S. dollars. This paper proposes to develop human resources, ensure the implementation of Islamic insurance in the Russian Federation and the Islamic countries of the CIS. It is proposed to start training for Takaful insurance the Department of insurance and social Economics of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
