Correlation of the game with communication in deaf students

Abstract

Objective: The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between the use of games as a tool and the development of communication in deaf students. Methodology: Quantitative basic research was designed, with a descriptive - correlational and cross-sectional scope. For data collection, a survey was used aimed at 60 teachers specialized in the education of deaf boys and girls from 1st to 7th year of basic education in the city of Machala, selected through convenience sampling. Results: The results obtained indicated a significant value of 0.000 in the chi-square tests with Fisher's exact, and a Spearman's Rho correlation coefficient of 0.766, which supports the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis. Results: These findings suggest a high correlation between the variables "Game" and "Communication". Furthermore, the results revealed that teachers prefer to use traditional sensorimotor games. Conclusión: Likewise, it is confirmed that sign language continues to be the most used method. It is concluded that the use of games as a tool has a significant relationship with the development of communication in deaf students.
