Pedagogical approaches to diagnosing fine motor development in first grade students

The objective of this research was to analyze the development of fine motor skills in first grade students of the "Sara Belén Guerrero Vargas" Educational Unit through a diagnosis based on graphoplastic techniques, for the identification of the predominant skills and areas that require strengthening. The methodology used was qualitative, with an action-research design, where observation and interviews were used as the main instruments to collect data. The results showed that students with greater development of fine motor skills, such as tearing, cutting and tracing, also had higher levels of adaptability, self-control and emotional disposition in the classroom. This indicates that the development of fine motor skills not only favors physical precision, but also strengthens emotional intelligence, facilitating better academic and social integration. It is concluded that it is necessary to incorporate didactic strategies that integrate both motor and emotional development from the first school years to promote a comprehensive and preparatory education for later stages.
