Challenges and Strategies to Overcome the Digital Divide in University Settings: A Systematic Review

In these times, higher education faces the challenge of the digital divide, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the urgency to effectively integrate Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) into teaching and learning processes. This article aims to thoroughly identify the causes and manifestations of the digital divide in university settings to design strategies that promote educational equity. Through a systematic review following the PRISMA protocol, relevant studies from 2013 to 2024 were analyzed, using databases such as Web of Science, Scopus, and Scielo. The results highlight connectivity, the perception of ICT, and digital skills among teachers and parents as critical factors contributing to the digital divide. The most significant conclusion is the need to address this gap not only by improving access and technological infrastructure but also by promoting digital skills, adapting strategies to the specific contexts of each institution to ensure a more inclusive and equitable higher education.
