Urban planning strategies: Sincelejo as a city-region model in the context of globalization

Abstract

In the context of contemporary urban development, the city-region concept emerges as a key model for addressing the challenges of globalization and territorial planning. This article focuses on Sincelejo, exploring how it can transform into a dynamic and sustainable city-region. The goal is to define a local development strategy that integrates the city-region concept with Sincelejo's unique characteristics. Through a mixed approach that combines literature review and case study analysis, the theory and practice related to city-regions and global cities are examined. The findings reveal a strategic framework that identifies endogenous resources, key stakeholders, and action guidelines to promote Sincelejo's socioeconomic development. The most significant conclusion points to the adaptability of the city-region model to specific contexts, highlighting the need for a collaborative approach among various local agents to catalyze development and innovation.
