Diagnosis of quality management in educational centers in the Dominican Republic

Quality management in educational centers is essential to ensure high-level and equitable education in the Dominican Republic, which seeks to implement a culture of continuous improvement in educational centers. In this context and in light of the results of the applications of the PISA and TERCE 2023 tests, this research aims to characterize the initial state of educational quality management in educational centers in the Dominican Republic. A theoretical and empirical systematization was carried out, using a mixed study, applying a survey and interview to five study groups composed of directors, management team, administrators and teachers from 13 centers in the Educational District 06-05 La Vega Este and District 16- 01 of Cotuí. The instruments applied included the category of very much agree, somewhat agree, agree, slightly agree and NO agreement; with central trend measure- Fashion. The results revealed a deficiency in the theoretical understanding of educational quality management, as well as the need to address it in an interconnected manner and with an integrative vision, from the perspective of the educational community. A lack of knowledge was evident in relation to quality management models, in particular the CAF Model, for self-assessment and continuous improvement of educational centers, assumed by the MINERD. Furthermore, the lack of a methodology that enables the practical action of the model and a low participation of collaborators and interest groups of the institutions was observed.
