Abstract
Introduction: the bibliometric study of cardiology allows us to analyze the scientific production in this field and identify research trends. Objective: to characterize the scientific production of cardiology in Cuban student medical journals in the period 2019-2023. Method: a bibliometric study was conducted in 104 articles (N=104) on cardiology downloaded from the websites of student medical journals. The following variables were analyzed for each selected article: journal to which it belonged, year of publication, type of article, classification according to topic, collaboration and authors; of the latter, sex and its place of study. Results: universidad Médica Pinareña and Revista 16 de abril stood out in first place with 27 articles (25.96 %) each. The female sex prevailed with 129 (50.39%) authors, in 87 (83.65%) articles there was collaboration. The year that stood out with the highest number was 2020, with 29 (27.88%) articles. According to the type of articles, 71 (68.27%) original articles were found. The main topic of the articles was Arterial Hypertension with 42 (40.38%). Out of a total of 104 articles, 46 were cited, representing 44.23%. Conclusions: the scientific production on Cardiology in Cuban student medical journals in the period 2019-2023 is considered low.
