Abstract

Currently, issues related to women are gaining vital importance, especially in the agricultural sector. This study aimed to provide insight into women's participation in the agricultural sector. A case study focused on producer Felicia Mesa and her farm, La Pastora, assessing the transformations made along the path toward agroecology. Surveys were conducted on the innovations implemented to improve production results, and participant observation was used to verify the effectiveness of these practices in increasing agricultural yields. Indexes were calculated that demonstrated the farm ecological and multifunctionality value. The results showed that the use of agricultural practices such as bioproducts, crop and variety diversification, and the use of organic fertilizers and biological control agents allow for increased crop yields. The farm is categorized as good, indicating an upward trend in the IVEA index for 2022 compared to 2023 and 2024. The IMAFC index was ranked medium-high, showing that the farm continues to generate diverse functions, with a greater tendency toward equity, inclusion, resilience, and sustainability.
