Abstract

Objective. To evaluate the interaction between social factors—including family, peer, and media influences—on tobacco use among adolescents aged 13 to 15 years in Nicaragua, using weighted data from the 2019 Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS). Methods. A cross-sectional analytical study was conducted with a nationally representative sample of 8,735 adolescents. Adjusted logistic regression models were used to estimate odds ratios (OR), and multivariable models incorporated predefined interaction terms. Adjusted probabilities were calculated for statistically significant combinations, accounting for the complex survey design. Results.
