Abstract

The objective of this systematic review was to analyze the role that nursing plays in the comprehensive management of patients with chronic diseases. To this end, an exhaustive search was conducted in various databases, selecting 20 relevant articles that met the inclusion criteria. The analysis of the evidence revealed several key aspects about the role of nursing in this context. Firstly, the importance of the multidisciplinary approach and nursing-led care coordination is highlighted, which contributes to improving treatment adherence and patients' quality of life. In addition, the studies emphasize the fundamental role of nursing in promoting self-care and healthy lifestyles, as well as in addressing the pain and symptoms associated with chronic diseases. Finally, the review also shows the need to strengthen nurses' specific competencies through continuous training programs and the development of clinical practice guidelines.
