Effectiveness of Physiotherapy in the Treatment of Chronic Low Back Pain

Abstract

The study addresses the effectiveness of physiotherapy in the treatment of chronic low back pain, a globally prevalent condition that negatively impacts the physical and emotional health of patients. It highlights that physiotherapy, recommended by various clinical guidelines, employs techniques such as strengthening exercises, manual therapy, and electrotherapy, with the aim of improving functional capacity and reducing pain. In a randomized clinical trial, an intervention group that received physiotherapy for 12 weeks was compared to a control group that followed conventional treatment. The results showed that patients in the physiotherapy group experienced a greater reduction in pain intensity and an improvement in physical function compared to the control group. Additionally, improvements in quality of life and greater patient satisfaction were reported. The study concludes that physiotherapy is an effective and safe therapeutic option for the treatment of chronic low back pain, with positive implications for patients' quality of life. Further research is suggested to evaluate the long-term effects and improve clinical guidelines related to this condition.
