Experience of type 2 diabetes patients in treatment adherence: a literature review

Abstract

This article examines the experience of patients with type 2 diabetes in relation to their treatment adherence, focusing on the factors that influence adherence, common barriers, and effective interventions to improve it. The importance of social support, patient beliefs, and socioeconomic factors as critical elements in disease management is highlighted. Educational interventions and the use of information technology are presented as promising strategies for enhancing treatment adherence. The literature review addresses both qualitative and quantitative studies, offering a deep understanding of the dynamics affecting adherence and proposing recommendations for future research and clinical practices
