Abstract

This critical reflection article examines the current state of socio‑occupational guidance for adolescents in Latin America, particularly in Colombia. Its purpose is to identify tensions, gaps, and challenges in the articulation of life projects, education, and the labor market. Methodologically, a critical literature review was conducted, supported by comparative analysis of international reports and regional studies on vocational guidance, educational trajectories, youth employability, and territorial inequality, in an amount greater than 27 bibliographic sources. The main findings reveal a disconnect between youth occupational expectations and actual labor market dynamics, as well as institutional fragmentation, weak technological integration, and persistent social and territorial disparities. It concludes that socio‑occupational guidance must be strengthened as a systematic and contextualized educational practice aligned with contemporary social and productive transformations.
