Impact of hospital resource planning on the optimization of emergency services: a study in clinics in Aguachica, Cesar

Cesar, with the aim of identifying their current situation and determining their impact on optimizing care. A correlational study with a quantitative approach and a non-experimental design was conducted. The sample was a census, as it included the entire target population, allowing for a comprehensive characterization without sampling bias. The results revealed significant deficiencies in the planning of human, material, and financial resources. It was found that staff allocation does not reflect workload analysis, supplies are assigned without considering actual demand or seasonal changes, and budget allocation is not linked to performance indicators or clinical prioritization criteria. These shortcomings were associated with operational problems in the emergency department, such as prolonged waiting times, low response capacity, and difficulties in providing timely and efficient care. In conclusion, the study demonstrates that current resource planning negatively impacts service quality, therefore recommending the implementation of evidence-based models that reflect actual demand to improve hospital management in emergency departments.
