Psychosocial risks in the medical and support staff of a Hospital in Managua, Nicaragua

Abstract

This study evaluated psychosocial risk factorsin medical personnel and clinical assistants at a hospital affiliatedwith social security in Nicaragua. Using a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional approach with a sample of 46 participants who completed the SUSESO/ISTAS 21 questionnaire in its complete version.The results show that women were more affected, themost represented group was clinical assistants, the age group of 26 to 35years old, the most predominant length of service was 2 to 5 years, and in terms ofperception of health status, participants reported that it was fair. According to the SUSESO/ISTAS21 assessment in the dimensions of cognitive demands, active work, social support, compensation, and dual presence, the levelswere between intermediate and high. The predominance was greater among clinical assistants than among general practitioners.
