Adaptation of the Dominican educational legal framework to the interests of Rafael Trujillo's dictatorship, 1930-1961

This study analyzes how the dictatorship of Rafael L. Trujillo (1930–1961) used the Dominican educational system as an instrument of ideological control and legitimization of power. Through qualitative historical-documentary research, the study examines educational laws, decrees, and ordinances enacted during the regime, based on the theoretical frameworks of Althusser, Foucault, and Freire. The results show a progressive centralization of the educational system, accompanied by territorial expansion directed toward rural areas and the implementation of assistance mechanisms such as breakfast and school clothes. Organic Law of Education No. 2909 (1951) normatively consolidated an educational model centered on the values ​​of Christianity, Hispanic identity, and authoritarian nationalism, turning the school into an apparatus for ideological reproduction. It is concluded that the educational system was carefully structured to guarantee political loyalty and the social discipline of the population from childhood, nullifying the possibility of a critical or democratic education. This work contributes to the understanding of the role of education in authoritarian contexts and opens lines of research on ideological continuities in contemporary Dominican school culture.
