Teachers' perceptions of pedagogical support and supervision: Control or support?

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze teachers' perceptions of pedagogical support and oversight: Control or support? From Educational District 17-04 of Sabana Grande de Boyá, Dominican Republic, during the 2024-2025 school year. Its descriptive, non-experimental, mixed-approach methodology determines pedagogical support as an essential tool for ensuring quality teaching, and its effectiveness depends largely on the leadership, vision, and commitment of the management team. Pedagogically focused management fosters collaborative work, ongoing monitoring, and professional reflection becomes a determining factor in improving learning. Therefore, it is essential to continue strengthening the capacities of the management and teaching team to consolidate a school culture oriented toward academic excellence and the comprehensive development of students. Teachers clearly do not feel monitored but rather supported. It is concluded that pedagogical support is an essential tool for ensuring quality teaching, and that its effectiveness depends largely on the leadership, vision, and commitment of the management team
