Abstract

The present study examines the influence of the implementation of board games in the teaching and learning process of in the teaching and learning process of inorganic chemical nomenclature in tenth grade students of the Institution Alvaro Gonzalez Santana Polytechnic Educational Institution, Sogamoso. Using a mixed and sequential experimental research design, a two-stage intervention was developed. In the quantitative phase, two groups were formed: one control group, to which the traditional methodology was applied (master class), and an experimental group, in which three games were integrated three board games – Quimibingo, Químidados and Chemical Dominoes – as a teaching strategy. Pre and post assessments of basic nomenclature knowledge were carried out in both groups. In the qualitative phase, questionnaires were applied to collect the students' perception regarding the subject before and after the implementation of the games, improvements were seen in the acquisition of new knowledge and in strengthening social skills.
