Current situation of lifeguards in the exercise of their duties in the Municipality of Brión

Lifeguards are responsible for monitoring, preventing, and responding to water emergencies, performing rescues, and providing first aid. This study aims to determine their current situation in the exercise of their duties, evaluate their knowledge and professional training, identify the legal and technical standards required for their training, describe the strategies and techniques used, and propose a special course for their training and updating. Using a qualitative method based on participatory action research, the context is described through observation and interviews. The instruments employed were notebooks and interview guides, with a lived-experiential approach that highlights the full interaction between the researcher and the subjects studied. It is concluded that it is essential to improve the training and professional situation of lifeguards, as they play a crucial role in public safety and in coastal communities. Emphasis is placed on the need to maintain their physical condition and provide continuous updates and training to enhance the human talent in the Miranda Lifeguard Directorate.
