A Bibliometric Analysis on Sustainable Tourism during The Covid-19 Epidemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has triggered an unprecedented global crisis with health, social, and economic dimensions, and the travel and tourism sector has been among the most severely affected industries. Flight cancellations, hotel closures, and travel restrictions implemented in almost all countries have significantly limited the sector’s operations. At the same time, the crisis has heightened the importance of sustainable tourism. In this context, the aim of this study is to examine scientific publications produced in the field of sustainable tourism during the COVID-19 pandemic through bibliometric analysis. The study analyzes a total of 74 articles published in 2020 and 2021 in journals indexed by TR Dizin under the Social Sciences category, using the keyword "sustainable tourism." The analysis includes the number of articles per author, institutional affiliations of the authors, the most prolific authors, academic title distribution, the prevalence of co-authorship, language of publication, the journals publishing the most on sustainable tourism, and the conformity of the publications to Pareto’s Law (80/20 Rule), Price’s Law, and Lotka’s Law. The findings aim to reveal current trends in sustainable tourism literature during the COVID-19 period and provide guidance for future research in the field.
