Abstract
Job, profession, work and career are vital facts for people who spend most of their lives working. These concepts, which are at the center of human life, have a multidimensional role in life. The chosen profession affects serious personal, social, economic and educational factors in the lives of individuals. Career adaptation has become one of the keys to providing commodity competencies in the context of rapidly evolving working conditions. This concept means the attitudes, competencies and behaviors that individuals use in order to achieve harmony in themselves and in jobs suitable for them. Another concept that stands out alongside adaptability skills to cope with the challenges of today's society is career optimism. This positive future orientation inherent in career optimism makes individuals feel confident when they reflect on career barriers and fulfill their career planning tasks. Accordingly, optimists are likely to show a willingness to respond to career barriers and overcome career barriers with confidence. It is of great importance to develop emotional intelligence skills in order to strengthen the process of adapting to the changes and developments that individuals will encounter throughout their careers. For this reason, it is thought that working on career adaptation and optimism and emotional intelligence skills in young adults will be beneficial in developing career adaptation skills to young adults who are preparing for their careers in today's rapidly changing world. The aim of this study is to reveal whether there is a significant difference for emotional intelligence, career adaptability and career optimism in terms of demographic characteristics for 578 students studying at various faculties of Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa.
