Abstract
Despite the rapid development of technostress research, it remains conceptually insufficiently integrated into the socio-technical framework. This study specifically focuses on post-COVID-19 scholarship published between 2020 and 2025, reflecting the rapid expansion of remote and hybrid work arrangements. We employed a multimethod analysis of peer-reviewed articles published between these periods, retrieved from Scopus and WoS databases. VOSviewer was used to generate co-authorship networks, country collaborations, and keyword co-occurrence networks using Bibliometrix in R. The findings reveal a fast-growing yet geographically concentrated body of research, dominated by contributions from Europe and China. In terms of conceptual development, research on technostress has shifted its focus to construct development and measurement, with an emphasis on burnout, emotional fatigue, and employee wellbeing. Nonetheless, new digital stressors linked to AI and the continuous monitoring of digital subjects are poorly theorised and poorly integrated into current frameworks. The prevailing models still rely on individual-level explanations and downplay organisational and institutional dynamics. This study provides a synthesis of post-COVID-19 technostress research through the lens of information systems. This study advances theoretical integration across existing studies, reveals critical gaps in research contextualisation and methodology, and presents a research agenda for the future with a focus on multilevel and socio-technical perspectives.
