Abstract

The objective of this work is to analyze the influence of agroindustrial complexes in the municipalities of Rio Verde and Quirinópolis, considered to have an agricultural tradition. Secondary data were used by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), Mauro Borges Institute (IMB) and Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA). The results show that the emergence and evolution of the agroindustrial complexes of soybean, maize and sugar cane had relevant State support and their influence on the growth of municipal GDP, per capita income, formal jobs directly and indirectly, and municipal HDI in Rio Verde and Quirinópolis. It is concluded that such agroindustrial complexes are positively responsible for generating wealth throughout the productive chain, promoting employment growth directly and indirectly, as well as raising per capita income and municipal HDI regardless of the predominant culture.
